So when American rock band The Academy Is… (TAI) announced “Almost There,” their fourth studio album—a follow-up eighteen years removed from 2008’s “Fast Times at Barrington High,” I knew I wanted to cover it.

An Incredible Open Performance
It was the evening of Oct. 13, 2025 in the Bessie Schonberg Theatre. Parents and students alike waited in anticipation to watch their friends and family have a moment in the spotlight. At 7:36 p.m., the theatre filled with the sound of the intercom introducing the first fall Open Performance for the dance department. After a land acknowledgement, the lights dimmed, the theatre became pitch black and the show began.

How Geese is Changing Live Music
On Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 the rock band Geese performed a show in Banker’s Anchor, a public park in Brooklyn. This show was put on to celebrate the release of their third album Getting Killed. Lorde’s Ultrasound Tour at Madison Square Garden

Rowsell, decked in the stunning chartreuse leotard pictured on the new album’s cover, commanded the stage with the flare and playfulness of a natural performer. She took on remarkably different affects throughout the set, from a golden-age Broadway prima donna to a (comically barefoot) dictator, marching around stage with a megaphone for the hard vocals of “Yuk Foo” and “Play the Greatest Hits.” For other songs, like “Just Two Girls” and “The Sofa,” the atmosphere became more intimate, her carefree gracefulness bringing to mind how one might dance alone in their bathroom while getting ready to go out.
