Letter from the Editors: To the Class of 2030

Dear Class of 2030,

Welcome to Sarah Lawrence College!

As you begin your first year here, we wanted to welcome you not only to campus but to the community that you are now a part of. Sarah Lawrence is a place that is shaped by the incredibly unique people who pass through it. Whether it be their ideas, conversations, or debates, all of which continue long after class has ended.

As editors of The Phoenix, we have had the opportunity to watch these interactions unfold from a particular perspective. Our newspaper is a record of what happens in our community, but we also pride ourselves on it being a space for students to ask questions, share ideas, and make sense of the community around them. We hope it can be a space for you too.

There is no single path for a Sarah Lawrence student, so there is no single way to participate in campus life. You might find your place in a classroom, a club, a performance, or somewhere completely unexpected. Some of the most meaningful parts of your college experience may be the things you didn’t anticipate when you arrived.

We encourage you to be curious and branch out. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and follow your interests. And when you have something to say, The Phoenix is here to listen.

We hope the coming years bring you new ideas, friendships, and stories worth sharing. We are so excited to have you join our community.

Welcome to Sarah Lawrence College, Class of 2030.

Sincerely,

SLC Phoenix
